Nanny: The Matriarch of our Family and the Inspiration behind our Company

Theresa Rose "Nanny" Sangirardi Yodice was born on May 26, 1919 at home in Brooklyn, NY, USA. When she was 9 months old, Nanny went to visit her family in Palo del Colle, Bari, Italy, and she stayed there until she was 7 years old. While in Italy, and back in Brooklyn, Nanny learned to cook traditional, authentic Italian food from her Mom and Grandma. Nanny married our Grandpa, Demetrio Albert "Poppy" Yodice on April 16, 1939, at a football wedding at a hall in Brooklyn, NY. Nanny and Poppy have 3 children, Vincent James, Angela Philomena, and Rachelle Anne. Nanny also has 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
For decades, our family has been blessed with Nanny's presence and her wonderful, authentic Italian cooking. Anyone in our family can fondly recall walking into Nanny's house on a Sunday morning and being greeted by the sweet smell of Nanny's marinara sauce. Of all the amazing food that Nanny has made over the years, Nanny's sauce and meatballs stand out among the best. As Nanny has continued to thrive and reach more milestones in her life -- Nanny turned 90 on May 26, 2009 -- it became clear that we needed to find a way to honor this beautiful woman and share her wonderful cooking with the world.
Regina: Founder and Executive Chef

Regina is Nanny's granddaughter and she loves to cook, especially Italian food. She learned to cook Italian meals from her Mom and Nanny. About two years ago, Regina came up with the idea to start working on a way to sell some of Nanny's dishes commercially. She decided to start with Nanny's sauce and meatballs, but wanted to put her own spin on it. And so, the Marinara Sauce and Turkey Meatballs were born. Regina is thankful every day to have the opportunity to do what she loves and run this business as a tribute and honor to her wonderful Nanny and her Italian heritage. Peace, love and garlic!
